Common questions
The speed isn't showing up. What's wrong?
Speedometer needs access to your iPhone's Location Services to read GPS data. Go to Settings → Privacy & Security → Location Services, find Speedometer: What's My Speed, and set it to "While Using the App."
The reading seems off indoors or in a parking garage.
GPS accuracy depends on having a clear view of the sky. In tunnels, garages, or dense urban areas with tall buildings, signal quality can drop and the reading may lag or fluctuate. Head somewhere with open sky and it should settle down quickly.
How do I reset the Trip Meter?
Tap the reset button next to the Trip Meter display. It zeroes out immediately and starts counting from your current position.
The music controls aren't showing anything.
The music controls work with whatever is currently playing on your iPhone — Apple Music, Spotify, Podcasts, etc. Start playback in your music app first, then come back to Speedometer: What's My Speed and the controls will appear.
Does it work in mph and km/h?
Yes. Make sure you've downloaded the latest version. To switch between MPH and KPH just touch the MPH/KPH text and it will toggle between the two. Your latest choice will be saved on your device in the app's settings so it will remember it the next time you lauchh the app.
Does it work in the background?
Yes, as long as the app is still running. Speedometer is designed to update in the background so it can keep the trip distance accurate. Once you close the app the background updates stop.
